The MKIII automatic is a faithful recreation of the classic 1950s NATO specification watches made under UK Ministry of Defence reference 6B/346 Mk XI. While closely resembling the vintage models from the 1950s, these watches incorporate modern technology, greatly enhancing accuracy with a 21 Jewel, 21,600 bph automatic movement offering up to a 40-hour power reserve. Additionally, they feature a shatter and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal for added durability.

Given budget constraints, no modern military force could afford such high-quality watches when cheaper models suffice. In the past, the world's armed forces frequently purchased timepieces from renowned brands like Rolex, IWC, Omega, and Longines. Although those days are long gone, there remains a demand for military-pattern watches that maintain the aesthetic appeal of the originals while boasting superior specifications. The MKIII models cater to this demand. From the high-performance movement to the brushed stainless steel case designed in the 1950s/60s style and hand-finished in Zurich, no expense has been spared. The model has also been upgraded recently with a scratch and shatter-resistant sapphire crystal with a non-reflective coating.

The watch features a screw caseback and screw-down crown, ensuring high accuracy, robustness, and water resistance up to 100m (330ft).

Why Choose Sapphire Crystal?

Many customers ask about the benefits of sapphire crystal over standard mineral crystal. Synthetic sapphire is the superior material for watch crystals due to its strength and resistance to shattering and scratching. These characteristics make it highly appealing to military and security personnel, police officers, and outdoor enthusiasts, who make up over 70% of our customers. Watches with mineral glass crystals are more prone to damage, even with hardened mineral crystals. The strength of sapphire crystals comes from a heat treatment process that removes internal stresses, followed by the application of two layers of anti-reflective coating. This durability is why sapphire crystal is also used in the latest iPhones. Although sapphire crystal comes at a higher price, it is typically found in higher-end watches.
